Who we are

Hello, we are Guy & Sunyoung, a Belgian-Korean couple with a great passion and love for animals, especially birds. Since 2019, we have been running BELKO BIRD, a small-scale nursery in Anseong, South-Korea. All our birds can enjoy our spacious outdoor aviaries all year around and that makes us quite different from most nurseries in Korea.

인사말

안녕하세요, 저희는 Guy (기) 와 선영입니다. 저희는 동물, 특히 새에 대한 대단한 열정과 사랑을 가진 벨지안-코리안 부부입니다. 2019년부터 대한민국 안성에서 소규모 조류 사육장, 벨코 버드를 운영해 오고 있습니다. 저희의 모든 새들은 사계절 내내 넓은 실외 공간을 즐길 수 있다는 점이 국내 대부분의 사육장과는 다른 점입니다.

How we started

Not long after we moved to Korea, we started looking for our first pet birds, a green Indian Ringneck and later an Alexandrine parakeet. During our search we experienced how difficult it was to find the birds we liked. This gave rise to the idea of importing our own birds and starting our own nursery. In 2019, we started building our own breeding center in Anseong, South Korea.

시작의 계기

한국으로 이주한지 얼마 되지 않아 우리의 첫 애완조로, 그린 인디언 링넥과 알렉산드린 패러킷을 찾아 보기 시작했습니다. 새를 찾는 과정에서 마음에 드는 새를 찾는다는 것이 쉽지 않다고 느꼈습니다. 이를 계기로 직접 새를 수입하고 우리만의 사육장을 만들어야겠다는 생각을 하게 되었습니다. 2019년 드디어 우리는 대한민국 안성에 우리만의 브리딩 센터를 짓기 시작했습니다.

How we got into pets

From his early childhood, Guy had all kind of small pets. He was most fascinated by birds .When he got his first bird, a blue English budgerigar he spent many hours observing the bird’s behavior. With only the help of a book he successfully managed to train the budgie. Later on he also had his first successful steps in breeding budgerigars in different colors.

애완동물에 흥미를 갖게 된 계기

어린 시절부터, 남편 Guy (기)는 온갖 종류의 작은 애완동물을 키웠습니다. 그중에서도 새에 가장 큰 관심을 가졌습니다. 그가 첫 번째 새인 블루 잉글리쉬 버지를 가졌을때 그는 새의 행동을 관찰하면서 많은 시간을 보냈습니다. 그리고 오직 독서를 통해 버지를 훈련시키는데 성공했습니다. 후에 다양한 색상의 버지를 번식하는 데도 성공적인 첫발을 내디뎠습니다.

What we do

✅ Bird keeping

As bird lovers we keep our aviary and pet birds in clean cages with lots of space and we provide them with a well balanced nutrition.

✅ Breeding mutations

We specialize in breeding Alexandrine parakeets and a wide variety of mutations of Indian Ringneck parakeets.

✅ Hand raising

On reservation we hand raise our baby birds until they are fully weaned.

✅ Import

We import our own birds from reliable breeders and exporters.

✅ Seminars & events

In cooperation with VERSELE-LAGA we organize seminars In Korea and Southeast Asian countries. By sharing information and expertise we hope to grow the interest in aviculture in Korea.
